The initial inspection carried out by the Ruse Regional Office of the Executive Agency “Automobile Administration” found no violations related to the roadworthiness of the heavy goods vehicle or to the driver's driving and rest periods in connection with the serious road traffic accident that occurred this morning on the Ruse – Byala road.
The tachograph data showing the vehicle’s speed at the time of the accident will be made available to the investigating authorities.
The driver of the heavy goods vehicle has held a Category C+E driving licence since 2004, possesses a valid Driver Qualification Card until 11 May 2031, and holds a valid certificate of psychological fitness. The lorry is relatively new, having been in service for approximately one year, and at the time of the incident it was travelling without a load towards the town of Byala.
In relation to another incident that occurred late last night, in which a heavy goods vehicle struck and brought down a ventilation fan inside the Vitinya Tunnel on the Hemus Motorway, the inspection carried out by the Executive Agency “Automobile Administration” identified several violations. Three infringement notices were issued to the driver of the Romanian-registered lorry: for an unsecured load, for driving with an expired Driver Qualification Card, and for failing to record the driver's driving and rest periods in the tachograph.
The Executive Agency “Automobile Administration” continues to carry out intensified roadside inspections across the country.
