Greeting of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policies and Minister of Transport and Communications Hristo Alexiev on the occasion of World Post Day – October 9

Dear colleagues,

On October 9, we celebrate World Post Day and express gratitude to the work of the thousands of employees in the postal sector. Over 180 postal operators work in Bulgaria, in conditions of full competition.

Post offices are among the best developed logistics networks in Bulgaria. They have a huge role not only in the digital economy, but also in people's daily lives. The activity of the sector has long gone beyond the classical postal services and today the post office has an important role in maintaining the economy, trade and already in the provision of administrative services. In 2021, the volume of the market, measured by the indicator of revenue from the provision of postal services, reaches BGN 683 million. There is more than 26% growth in courier shipments and more than 14% in postal money transfers.

A large-scale modernization of the main postal operator is about to be implemented with funds under the Recovery and Resilience Plan. The goal is to technologically update the stations so that people from small settlements can receive services without having to travel to larger administrative centers.

I congratulate the employees in the postal sector in Bulgaria. Each of you has a personal contribution to the common mission – that people are connected and that the millions of messages and goods reach their recipients.

Thank you for your efforts and professionalism. I wish health to you and your families!

Happy holiday!
