Six people were injured today in an accident involving a banana-type inflatable water attraction at an unregistered water base near the town of Aheloy. Three of the victims were hospitalized in Burgas and Sunny Beach, and the other three were released for home treatment after sustaining injuries.
Inspectors from the Maritime Administration Directorate – Burgas and a police team immediately carried out an on-site inspection. It was found that the water base is not certified and does not have the necessary documentation for carrying out water and recreational activities. The site was operating in violation of regulatory safety requirements.
At the moment, there is no information on whether the beach concessionaire had been informed about the unregulated activity taking place within the territory of the concession.
Due to the lack of registration, the Executive Agency “Maritime Administration” cannot impose a sanction on the base itself, as it does not exist as a registered site. Nevertheless, the Agency will take all actions provided for by law. The operator of the jet with which the inflatable attraction was towed will be sanctioned as an individual because he does not have the necessary documentation to carry out this activity. The Prosecutor’s Office will be notified, a fine will be imposed on the concessionaire and the Ministry of Tourism will be notified of the identified violation.
