The Directorate General “Civil Aviation Administration” and the Executive Agency “Maritime Administration” carried out extraordinary inspections at water sports centres along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast offering parasailing activities.
During inspections of the technical equipment used for the parasailing facilities, inspectors identified a number of non-compliances. The defects found included a torn spreader bar strap, missing serial numbers and manufacturer identification, as well as an unauthorised repair to one of the spreader bars. The safety harnesses were also found to have missing, erased or illegible markings. In addition, three of the parachutes were not accompanied by the required documentation.
The operators of the facilities have been issued with specific instructions to remedy the identified deficiencies. All requirements relating to the technical equipment must be fulfilled within one week, while the full set of documentation for the parachutes must be provided within ten days.
Today, the enforcement activities continue with a further five extraordinary inspections at facilities along the Black Sea coast.
Compliance with safety standards is an uncompromising priority for the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and inspections at water sports centres will continue until the end of the summer season.
