The Minister of Transport and Communications, Georgi Peev, and the Honorary Chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Philatelists, Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, unveiled the first postage stamps dedicated to Bulgarian queens.
"This series brings together different eras of Bulgarian history and commemorates figures who left a lasting mark on the history and culture of the nation," Minister Peev said during the ceremony.
The series features the images of Princess Maria, Joanna of Savoy, Irina Lakapina, and Margarita Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.
"I am convinced that this series will be appreciated by both philatelists and all those who love Bulgarian history. This marks the beginning of a beloved philatelic series," noted Minister Peev.
He congratulated the artist Todor Angeliev on the beautiful and impactful project dedicated to the strong women in the lives of Bulgarian rulers.
Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha expressed his gratitude for the issuance of the stamp and presented the minister with a gold pin from the Union of Bulgarian Philatelists.
The event was attended by Zdravko Anakiev, Executive Director of Bulgarian Posts EAD; Spas Panchev, Chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Philatelists; and others.
