Minister Georgi Peev: The aviation sector in Bulgaria is operating steadily, without systemic problems

The Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Peev held a working meeting with representatives of aviation industry organizations and airport operators, where key priorities for the sustainable development of Bulgaria’s civil aviation and the improvement of the country’s regulatory policy were discussed.

Among the main topics of discussion were the expansion of Bulgaria’s air connectivity, the development of human capital in the aviation sector, the increase of the administrative capacity of the General Directorate “Civil Aviation Administration” (GD CAA), as well as current issues related to the operation of international airports in the country.

Special attention was paid to the need for a long-term policy for the construction and retention of qualified personnel in the aviation industry. Opportunities to promote vocational training, including the introduction of appropriate incentives and tax incentives for certified training organizations, as well as expanding cooperation between the state, higher education institutions and the aviation industry in preparing future specialists, were discussed.

The meeting also highlighted the need to strengthen the administrative capacity of the General Directorate “Civil Aviation Administration” in response to the dynamic development of the aviation industry, the increasing volume of regulatory activities and the need to provide timely and efficient administrative services to the sector.

At the end of the meeting, the participants agreed that the Bulgarian aviation sector is operating steadily and without systemic problems. The issues discussed were aimed at further organizational, regulatory and administrative improvement of the sector, and the Ministry of Transport and Communications is committed to maintaining an active dialogue with the industry and to taking timely action on the topics raised.
