The Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Peev sent a letter to all port operators in the country with instructions to take additional measures so that overloaded trucks do not enter and exit the ports.
In the letter, Minister Peev draws attention to cases of traffic accidents with vehicles that left the ports while overloaded.
The Minister calls on operators to create procedures that will prevent such vehicles from entering the national and municipal road networks. This also includes loading control, as the Road Transport Act, Art. 56 clearly defines the responsibility – the shipper or the person who carries out the loading operation must not to allow the mass of the loaded road vehicle to exceed the permissible maximum weight.
Upon detection of violations, port operators should notify the Executive Agency “Automobile Administration”, which will take action under its jurisdiction and initiate administrative criminal liability against the shippers or the persons carrying out the loading.
Minister Peev emphasized that road safety is a national priority, and the active involvement of all parties in solving the problem will lead to an improvement in the road traffic conditions in the country.
