The Bulgarian delegation discussed support for Ukraine’s reconstruction and regional connectivity in Gdańsk.
Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Peev participated in the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk, Poland. He was accompanied by Deputy Minister Hristina Velinova. Both are part of the Bulgarian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Investment and Industry Alexander Pulev.
During the visit, Minister Peev held meetings with European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, Polish Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak and leading Polish railway group ZUE.
Minister Georgi Peev and European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos emphasised Bulgaria’s strategic role in strengthening regional connectivity and transport corridors. The conversation centred on the key importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, known as the Middle Corridor, as a vital link in the EU’s international logistics network.
Polish Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak and Minister Georgi Peev discussed strategic priorities for the development of the transport sector in the context of EU funding under the next Multiannual Financial Framework beyond 2027. The discussion covered the need to improve transport links along the north–south axis, eliminate bottlenecks and build key infrastructure such as tunnels and new bridges over the Danube River.
The meeting with leading Polish group ZUE outlined opportunities for knowledge transfer in the modernization of the railway network. Bulgaria expressed interest in Polish expertise in managing large-scale infrastructure projects and implementing ERTMS/ETCS train control systems.
