Minister Ismailov: A contract for the supply of 91 passenger coaches from Deutsche Bahn to be signed within days

Within days, the contract between BDZ and Deutsche Bahn for the delivery of 91 passenger coaches will be signed. The Minister of Transport and Communications, Korman Ismailov, announced during a meeting with H. E. Irene Plank – Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Bulgaria.

According to Minister Ismailov, the railway system in Bulgaria is experiencing a shortage of passenger coaches, which makes it difficult to provide quality service to passengers. “BDZ is participating in the tender for the purchase of rolling stock in order to provide more reliable and more comfortable travel conditions for citizens,” the minister stated.

The prepared Public Transport Act was also discussed during the meeting. Minister Ismailov emphasized its importance and pointed out that the document is currently at the National Assembly and is being considered at its first reading in the Transport and Communications Committee. “We have received numerous proposals from interested parties, which will be carefully considered and reflected subsequently,” he said.

For her part, Ambassador Irene Plank stated that this law is extremely important and will be a big step for the development of public transport in Bulgaria. Ambassador Plank expressed support for the development of Transport Corridor VIII. According to her, the project is of strategic importance not only for the region, but for the entire European Union, and Germany will work to accelerate the process.

Minister Ismailov presented the priorities of the ministry. “For these 2 months, the main task of our government is to ensure fair and transparent elections. At the same time, we are working at an accelerated pace on the implementation of the ongoing projects and priority policies, so that the measures taken will lead to real and visible results for society,” Minister Ismailov added.
