The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski has ordered the strengthening of control over the transport of children and students. The inspection is part of the road safety improvement measures undertaken on the occasion of the International Children's Day - 1 June and the upcoming holiday trips during the summer months.
The inspectors of EA "Road Transport Administration" together with Traffic Police will check compliance with the legal requirements and the technical condition of all buses transporting children and students. The control will also affect the drivers' competence as well as the availability and regularity of their documents. Violations of driving times and drivers’ rests, alcohol use and traffic regulations will be observed as well.
The main purpose of the inspection is to improve safety and security of children and students on the road by permanent control. Controlling bodies expect strong commitment on behalf of directors, school managers and parents to prevent incapable carriers and drivers from transporting children.
