The Minister of Transport and Communications, Korman Ismailov, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Bulgaria, H.E. Jasna Ognjanovac, discussed the possibilities for launching a year-round air link between the capitals of the two countries.
Currently, a direct route exists between Sofia and Zagreb, but it is seasonal with frequent interruptions despite significant interest, it became clear during the meeting. Both parties will shortly organize a meeting between the relevant aviation agencies to discuss measures for year-round air connectivity between Sofia and Zagreb. Over 70,000 Bulgarians visited Croatia over the past year, and the number of Croatian tourists in Bulgaria is also rising, with increasing interest in Bulgarian winter resorts. This highlights the need to increase the frequency of direct flights, which were inaugurated two years ago.
"The geopolitical situation in the region necessitates closer interaction within the EU, NATO, and with our other neighbors. It is important for us to increase the capacity of railway and road infrastructure to neighboring countries and at border crossings, which are currently heavily congested," Minister Ismailov pointed out.
Minister Ismailov emphasized that the caretaker government is working to increase transparency and trust in institutions, as well as to accelerate long-delayed reforms in critical sectors. "Our goal is to introduce financial discipline and transparency in the spending of public funds," the Minister stated.
Ambassador Ognjanovac spoke highly of the caretaker government's work and the process of adopting the Euro in the country. "Just one year after the adoption of the European currency in Croatia, things changed significantly in a positive direction. I am certain that this will also happen in Bulgaria," the Ambassador said.
