The strengthening of financial discipline and the effective expenditure of public funds were the main focus during a meeting between the Minister of Transport and Communications, Korman Ismailov, and the Austrian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to our country, H.E. Andrea Ikić-Böhm.
Minister Ismailov emphasized that transparency and accountability are key factors for increasing trust and attracting more foreign investors, especially in sectors of high public importance such as transport infrastructure, telecommunications, and critical systems.
During the conversation, both sides noted that the topic is of mutual interest, given the active participation of Austrian companies in the implementation of projects in Bulgaria, both in the railway and road sectors, as well as in the field of telecommunications.
Regardless of the horizon facing the caretaker government, the main mission remains increasing trust in the electoral process and in the ministry's employees. Korman Ismailov recalled that in the final hours of the 51st National Assembly, the ministry's team submitted and defended the critically important Public Transport Act, which represents a qualitatively new organization of all types of transport in the country and is a key commitment under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
"Bulgaria has a good starting position and, by improving the administrative capacity of the institutions, we will catch up more quickly with the countries of Central and Western Europe," Minister Ismailov stated.
