Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Peev and Deputy Minister Anna Natova met with the Board of Directors of Bulgarian Posts EAD and representatives of the trade unions to discuss the steps involved in restructuring the company.
Minister Peev asked the management to develop a realistic stabilisation programme for Bulgarian Posts that takes all relevant factors into account and can be implemented over the next one to two years. “I do not expect a quick solution to the problems. The aim is to normalise the operations of Bulgarian Posts. The proposed measures, with their respective financial implications, must deliver tangible benefits for the company. The introduction of new technologies must be balanced against what is realistically achievable, with working conditions and remuneration forming part of that balance,” he urged.
The Minister also expects the company’s management to develop a property management programme, including an analysis and proposals for generating revenue. He called on the new management and the trade unions to work in full transparency and maintain an open dialogue, expressing his readiness to hold regular meetings to discuss the problems and challenges facing the company.
