Minister Rossen Jeliazkov: The theme for the Mobility Package I is extremely important for Bulgaria

The theme for the Mobility Package I is very important for Bulgaria and the measures envisaged should not limit the development of the sector. This was announced by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov during a working meeting with the Ambassador of Romania in our country H.E. Ion Galea.

The main subject of the talks between the two was the forthcoming Romanian presidency of the Council of the EU, which began in early 2019. Ion Galla presented Romania's priorities for the rotating presidency. As main topics, Ambassador Spells outlined the continuation of the negotiations on European legislation from the Mobility Package I and the balanced development of the files in land and sea transport. In the field of rail transport, Romania will continue its work on the regulation on passenger rights. A key priority in maritime transport will be the development of the Maritime Single Window.

Minister Jeliazkov expressed confidence that in Romania, our country could have a good partner in discussing the legislative changes under the Mobility Package I during the Romanian Presidency. Minister Jeliazkov reaffirmed his support for finding a common approach that would satisfy the Bulgarian position within the current mandate of Austria as President of the EU Council.

Minister Rossen Jeliazkov expressed willingness to share ideas and experience with the finalized First Bulgarian Presidency. The transport minister has shared his conviction that Romania will continue to work on the key priorities of the EU agenda and will work for progress in the policies of the Estonia-Bulgaria-Austria.

Later Minister Jeliazkov held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands H.E. Bea ten Tusscher. They discussed the possibilities for future joint work on topics of mutual interest in the fields of transport, transport infrastructure and the ICT sector.
