Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova and Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Peev met today in Brussels with Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Enlargement, and members of the Cabinet of the President of the European Commission.
The discussions focused on initiatives to enhance connectivity between the European Union, South-Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and the Middle East. Ministers Petrova and Peev presented Bulgaria’s vision for the development of transport, energy and digital links, highlighting the importance of building on existing infrastructure projects while advancing new initiatives of common European interest.
The meeting also covered opportunities to finance these projects, including through public-private partnerships and European financial instruments.
The Bulgarian ministers underlined that improving transport connectivity and diversifying energy supplies are essential to strengthening the European Union's economic resilience, energy security and competitiveness. They noted that the development of new transport and energy corridors would contribute to the closer integration of the Western Balkans, Ukraine and Moldova into the European economic area.
