The Ministry of Transport and Communications and BDZ – Passenger Services are providing free round-trip travel to Sofia for citizens who wish to attend the solemn reception of the remains of Tsar Samuil on 3 October 2026.
“We owe our gratitude to the great figures who fought for the preservation and strengthening of Bulgaria, such as Tsar Samuil. The presence of people from all over the country will be an expression of respect for the deeds and memory of one of our most significant rulers,” the Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Peev said.
Free round-trip tickets with a setreturn time will be issued for the journey. Passengers will only pay the seat reservation fee of EUR 0.51 per journey.
The free travel will be provided onspecially designated trains from various regions of the country – Southern, North Central, Southwestern and Northwestern Bulgaria – so that those wishing to attend the ceremony for the reception of Tsar Samuil’s remains can arrive in Sofia before it begins at 12:30 and travel back the same day.
