The introduction of common standards in the telecommunications of the Member States of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is being discussed. This is one of the topics of the ITU Committee meeting - Com-ITU, which takes place from 4 to 6 July 2017 in Sofia. The event is hosted by the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications. Experts from more than 25 member states, as well as representatives of the European Commission, international and regional organizations in the field of telecommunications and ICT participate in Com-ITU.
Among the main issues on the agenda are the preparation of the upcoming World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) and the Plenipotentiary Conference of ITU.
Com-ITU coordinates the development of pan-European opinions and positions of the European countries, related to their preparation and participation in the ITU Council ‘sessions and in major international conferences and forums of the Union.
