Nikolay Sabev approved the Contract for the establishment of "National Company Bulgarian State Railways" EAD

The Minister of Transport and Communications signed a Decision on conversion and approved the Contract for the creation of "National Company Bulgarian State Railways" EAD. The transformation was implemented by merging "BDZ-Passenger Transport" EOOD and "BDZ-Freight Transport " EOOD into "Holding Bulgarian State Railways" EAD and renaming it.

In February, Minister Nikolay Sabev presented the future restructuring, part of the large-scale change in Bulgaria's transport system.

The new company will optimize business and operational processes through a complete reorganization of the operational planning, management and control of the movement of passenger and freight trains. The effects of the restructuring are related to a change in the structure and number of administration in the merged company, a reduction in costs and long-distance travel time. Among the expected results are an increase in the standard of service and the provision of transport connectivity with the European railway system. This will have a positive impact on the cost of the offered railway service for the transport of passengers and freight, will increase its quality and make it attractive to users.

"The steps to rehabilitate BDZ, together with the new trains that MTC will acquire under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, will return the convenience of rail transport to Bulgarians", Minister Nikolay Sabev said.
