Postage stamp dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the "Economics of Transport and Energy" department at UNWE

The Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Lyuben Nanov, together with the Deputy Minister of Energy Georgi Samandov, the Vice-Rector of the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) Assoc. Prof. Maria Vodenicharova, and the Head of the "Economics of Transport and Energy" department Prof. Hristina Nikolova, validated a postage stamp on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the specialty's establishment.

"The department has trained nearly 4,000 young and ambitious people who today lead companies and organisations in the sector," said Deputy Minister Nanov during the ceremony. According to him, a university that prepares specialists for the transport sector plays a crucial role in the development of sustainable and efficient mobility. "Transport systems are becoming increasingly intelligent and complex; we need experts who understand not only engineering and logistics but also environmental impact and digitalisation," he added.

Lyuben Nanov emphasized that the Ministry of Transport and Communications, as well as companies in the sector, have long-standing cooperation with the "Economics of Transport and Energy" department in preparing joint analyses related to policies for sustainable and intelligent transport. The "Education" theme is part of every philatelic year in Bulgarian stamp issuance, the Deputy Minister also said. He recalled that 5 years ago, the 100th anniversary of the founding of UNWE was marked with a postage stamp. There are special editions for the anniversaries of the establishment of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", the Agricultural University in Plovdiv, the "N.Y. Vaptsarov" Naval Academy, the National Academy of Music, and the National Academy of Art. "Interestingly, given the public importance of the transport and energy sectors, for the first time in Bulgarian stamp issuance, we are validating a postage stamp dedicated to a university department," added Lyuben Nanov. The artist for the new edition's design is Emilio Borata.
