An Il-76 aircraft of the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters (EMERCOM of Russia) operated a flight to assist in fighting the wildfires in the Republic of Serbia. The aircraft crossed Bulgarian airspace between 20:14 and 21:05 and landed at the airport in the city of Niš.
As part of the preparations for the flight, the Bulgarian authorities issued the necessary permits in accordance with the established procedures.
At a time when the wildfires in the Republic of Serbia continue to spread near the Bulgarian border and pose a threat to cross-border areas, international cooperation in bringing the disaster under control is of particular importance.
At present, the return flight plan has not yet been received.
