Three Crew Members from Motor Vessel "Kairos" Successfully Evacuated

Three of the ten-member crew of the motor vessel Kairos were successfully evacuated during a joint operation today between the Executive Agency "Maritime Administration" and the Navy. This was announced by the Director General of the Directorate for Emergency and Rescue Activities at the Executive Agency "Maritime Administration," Rumen Nikolov, at a briefing today with the Commander of the Navy, Rear Admiral Kiril Mihaylov.

In the early afternoon, a Navy Panther helicopter, in coordination with the Directorate for Emergency and Rescue Activities, carried out a first mission during which food products, drinking water, and communication equipment were delivered to the deck of Kairos. This aid secured the initial needs of the ship's crew.

Following contact established between the Executive Agency "Maritime Administration" and the vessel's owner, a request was made for the evacuation of three crew members. As a result, after coordination between the Maritime Administration and the Navy, a second mission was organized and executed, during which they were safely evacuated to land. A diesel generator was also delivered on board.

After landing in Varna, medical assistance was provided to the three sailors to determine their health status.

At the shipowner's request, a new operation will be organized tomorrow morning to evacuate four more sailors, and by the shipowner's decision, three people will remain on board.

Tomorrow, a meeting is scheduled with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bulgaria to clarify all circumstances surrounding the abandonment of the tanker in Bulgaria's territorial waters.
