World experts on information security are coming to Bulgaria to participate in International Conference “Cybersecurity Challenges”

The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications and the State e-Government Agency organize an international conference "Cybersecurity Challeges" as part of the official program of the first Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The event will be held on March 26 (Monday) from 09:00 to 18:30 in Hall 3 of the National Palace of Culture. More than 150 delegates from Europe and the United States, the government sector, European institutions, business representatives, academics and non-governmental organizations will participate in the forum. Guests at the official opening of the conference are the Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Maria Garbiel, and Deputy Prime Minister, Tomislav Donchev. Among the panelists are the Director of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA), Udo Helbrecht, the Secretary General of the European Cyber ​​Security Organization, Luigi Rebuffi, Jean-Jacques Sahel - Vice President of the International Internet Name and Address Corporation (ICANN) and other experts in the field of information security.

In 2017, Internet users reached 51% of the world's population, and the network-connected devices - around 8.4 billion worldwide. At these growth rates, cybercrime is likely to become the biggest threat in the world that can cause serious economic damages - with different estimates of over 6 trillion dollars over the next two years.
