Fire in locomotive No 91520044063-3 on passenger train No 80132 at Yambol station on 20.7.2023
On 20 July 2023, PT No 80132 in composition 2 coaches, 8 axes, 94 tonnes, operated by electric locomotive No 91520044063-3 with a locomotive driver and assistant driver, train manager and conductor. The train service personnel, the locomotive and the coaches are part of the railway undertaking for passenger transport “BDZ – Passenger Services” EOOD.
During the movement of PT No 80132 in the interstation of Zavoy – Yambol, the train manager, who was travelling in the first compartment of the first coach, felt smell of smoke and, on the mobile phone, informed the locomotive driver. The locomotive driver excluded the locomotive from the MAS and removed the pantograph, continued the train movement on inertia to Yambol Station. The train manager promptly reported a fire to a single emergency number 112. At 15:45 p.m. PT No 80132 was established on a third track at Yambol Station. The traffic manager on-duty informed the train dispatcher in Plovdiv and required disconnection of the voltage in the catenary in Yambol station.
At 16:00 p.m., the voltage in the catenary in Yambol station was switched off.
At 16:05 p.m., two firefighting vehicles arrived from RD FSaCP Yambol. They used a portable fire extinguisher and water to control the fire in the locomotive.
At 16:20 p.m., the fire in the locomotive was extinguished.
At 16:21 p.m., the voltage was provided into the catenary in Yambol station and the train work was restored.
The train movement between Bezmer – Yambol – Zavoy stations has not been interrupted.
The locomotive crew, which operated locomotive No 91520044063-3 and the passengers on the train were not injured.
Material damage was caused to the burnt locomotive No 91520044063-3.
