The truck that crashed near a gas station in the village of Radomirtsi was moving at excessive speed, both instantaneous and average. On that ramp, the heavy truck was recorded traveling at a speed of 86 km/h where the permitted speed is 70 km/h, and the average speed in the accident section was 69 km/h with a limit of 50 km/h. On the day of the incident, speeding in the range of 10-15 km/h above the limit was also detected in different sections.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications has signed its most extensive contract to date for the delivery of new trains. In the presence of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and Deputy Prime Ministers Tomislav Donchev and Atanas Zafirov, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Grozdan Karadjov, signed the contract with the CEO of Alstom for Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova, Gabriel Stanciu. The investment, valued at over 1 billion leva, provides for the supply of 35 single-deck, zero-emission electric multiple unit trains.
Bulgaria and Romania will jointly award public procurement contracts under the Fast Danube 2 project. This became possible following the signing of an agreement between the Bulgarian Executive Agency "Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River" and the River Administration of the Lower Danube – Galati (Romania). With the completion of the Voluyak intermodal terminal, the area is set to become a hub for the cargo industry around Sofia. On 15 January 2025, the Republic of Bulgaria proposed to the Republic of North Macedonia a Draft Intergovernmental Agreement for the preparation and construction of a cross-border railway tunnel facility connecting the railway network of the two countries.
This is the only open issue between the two countries in the field of rail transport, which, however, does not only have bilateral significance, but constitutes an important element of NATO's collective security architecture and connectivity between EU Member States.
