By 2030, Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia will complete the construction of the railway connection between the two countries. This became clear during a meeting at the Ministry of Transport and Communications between Minister Korman Ismailov and the Ambassador of the Republic of North Macedonia to Bulgaria H.E. Agneza Rusi-Popovska, where it was reaffirmed the overall commitment to the implementation of the strategic project.

We are carrying a comprehensive analysis in order to increase the efficiency of the transport sector. The aim is to speed up the processes and improve the quality of services for citizens. The Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Murad Turk, who attended the official launch of the new Siemens Smartron electric locomotive named “Vasil Levski”, said. The event, which took place today in Karlovo, was attended by Martin Angelov, Executive Director of Holding BDZ Holding EAD, Dr.

Specialized flights of the airlines GullivAir and Bulgaria Air, as well as the State Aviation Operator, have been organized to return Bulgarian citizens from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman today and tomorrow. 

The airline GullivAir has obtained the necessary permits to operate a flight to Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai. The aircraft, which has 326 seats, today will carry Bulgarian citizens who have expressed a preliminary desire to return to Sofia. The lists are being prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications took timely action to provide air transport for the evacuation of Bulgarian citizens from the Middle East. As early as February 28, 2026, talks were held with the management of all Bulgarian airlines that have aircraft or operate in the region.

Bulgaria and Greece are actively working on the development of cross-border transport connectivity between the two countries. The Minister of Transport and Communications Korman Ismailov said during a meeting with H. E. Marios Liberopoulos, Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Bulgaria.

We continue working on the priority international transport projects along the north-south corridor. The Minister of Transport and Communications, Korman Ismailov, said during a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Republic of Bulgaria, H. E. Brândușa Predescu. The main focus of the conversation was the progress of strategic infrastructure initiatives and the strengthening of regional connectivity between the two countries.

Over 4 million cars and more than 11 million passengers pass through the Kapikule-Kapitan Andreevo border crossing every year – the busiest land border in the world. This intensive traffic requires urgent modernization of the existing infrastructure and the construction of new border facilities. This was the main focus of the meeting organized by Minister of Transport and Communications Korman Ismailov with Turkey's Ambassador to Bulgaria Mehmet Sait Uyanık.

Minister of Transport and Communications Korman Ismailov held his first official meeting with the head of a diplomatic mission in Bulgaria. He talked to Excellency (H. E.) Haralambos Kafkarides, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Bulgaria. The meeting took place in the context of Cyprus' active role as the current host of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union and stressed the importance of coordination and dialogue on key European transport and communications policies.

Eng. Murad Turk was appointed Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications by order of Acting Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov.

He has many years of experience in the management, control and implementation of projects and programs funded by the European Union. He worked at the National Railway Infrastructure Company, where he was responsible for the coordination and monitoring of key infrastructure projects.

The National Air, Water and Railway Accident Investigation Board will conduct an independent investigation into the reasons that led to the incident with the fishing vessel VH 8112 in the Black Sea. The investigation will begin after the submission of all documents and materials by the competent institutions.

The Minister of Transport and Communications, Korman Ismailov, convened an operational meeting with the participation of key structures from civil aviation and the defense system. The focus of the talks was the coordination of civil air traffic at Vasil Levski Airport - Sofia in the context of the ongoing NATO partnership mission, as well as ensuring the unhindered operation of the largest Bulgarian airport.

Interim Minister of Transport and Communications Korman Ismailov has officially assumed office, taking over management of the Ministry from Grozdan Karadjov. “I will work to strengthen trust in the institution and streamline operations at all levels,” Minister Ismailov said as he took office.

“Ensuring fair and transparent elections is a top priority for the government and will be our focus in the coming months,” he added.

In 2027, the railway line on the Danube Bridge near Ruse will go electric, which will cut transport costs by almost 30%.

With new fast charging stations along the TEN-T network, we will be able to charge electric vehicles in 15 minutes. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadzhov. He awarded the first six contracts for the construction of fast charging centres for electric vehicles along the roads. Together, they're worth about €1.4 million, which is covered by the 2021–2027 Transport Connectivity Program.

Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company will build a modern port for passenger ships and a yacht marina on the island of St. Cyricus and St. Julitta near Sozopol. This was announced at a briefing in the Council of Ministers by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadzhov. By decision of the government today, part of the island is being transferred from the Ministry of Culture to Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company.

The opening of the Rudozem-Xanthi border crossing point fulfils a 30-year dream of the people on both sides of the border. These were the words of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadzhov, who visited the border crossing today.

Deputy Prime Minister Karadzhov and Minister of Foreign Affairs Georgi Georgiev met on site with Greek Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications has announced a second procedure for the construction of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles on the TEN-T network. It provides financial support to micro, small, medium-sized, and large enterprises, with a total budget of €10 million and a maximum European funding of €256,000 per project. The intensity of the funding depends on the type of company – it is up to 65% for micro and small enterprises, up to 55% for medium-sized enterprises, and up to 35% for large enterprises.

Bulgaria now possesses 18 hospital helicopter landing sites, forming a well-distributed national network for emergency medical assistance by air. This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Grozdan Karadzhov, at the opening of the new hospital helipad at the "Sv. Ivan Rilski" Multi-Profile Hospital for Active Treatment in Gabrovo.

The first philatelic edition for 2026 is dedicated to Bulgaria's accession to the Eurozone. This is also the first Bulgarian postage stamp with a denomination in Euro—small in size, but a sign of great historical significance for our country's new economic era. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadzhov during the launch of the "Bulgaria in the Eurozone" postal-philatelic edition. The edition was validated by Ministers Grozdan Karadzhov and Temenuzhka Petkova, and the project's artist, Assoc. Prof.

The shipowner of the tanker "Kairos" has transferred the full amount of funds for the vessel's towing operation. The claim amounted to EUR 270,371, and the entire sum was paid today by the shipowner's shipping agent in Bulgaria—the company Parnavi EOOD.

The amount has been received in the account of the Maritime Administration Executive Agency, which coordinated the entire operation, and is to be reimbursed to the state budget.
