Connectivity for the digital transformation

The European Broadband Competence Offices Network (BCO Network) Support Facility has published its 2022-2023 Annual Work Plan Summary, outlining the key activities and topics for this year’s knowledge exchange and capacity building programme.

The National Development Programme BULGARIA 2030 is adopted by Protocol No. 67 of the Council of Ministers of 2 December 2020.

The Programme is a strategic framework document of the highest order in the hierarchy of national programming documents, determining the vision and general goals of the development policies in all sectors of general government, including their territorial dimensions.

The European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge and Cloud aims to foster the development and deployment of next generation edge and cloud technologies.

The Alliance brings together businesses, Member States representatives and relevant experts. It will strengthen the position of EU industry on cloud and edge technologies. It aims to serve the needs of EU businesses and public administrations that process sensitive categories of data, and has the objective to increase Europe’s leadership position on industrial data.

The Language Data Space aims to give stakeholders the opportunity to monetise their efforts in terms of language resources (data, tools, services, models, etc.), while also supporting the deployment of language models and language technology services for their businesses, in one single marketplace. Its objective is to create an interconnected and competitive European data economy for the promotion and re-use of language resources.

The Commission is publishing a report done by their independent consultant on the macro-economic potential of the digital transformation of the European economy. The paper looks into the challenges that the EU faces, including the COVID-19 implications, and the ways to address them to achieve the aims set out in the strategy on Shaping Europe’s Digital Future.

The study seeks to better understand and put forward measures towards achieving the Digital Strategy goal of “climate neutral and highly energy efficient data centres and electronic communication networks and services by 2030”

The current digital transformation is characterized by a steep increase in the amount of data being generated, processed, stored, and transmitted. This has consequences on our energy consumption. In 2018, data centres accounted for 2.7% of the EU’s energy consumption. If left unchecked, this could rise to 3.2% by 2030.
