The Ministry of Transport and Communications insists that the concessionaire of Vasil Levski Airport - Sofia SOF Connect should start paying the full amount of the due concession fee from January 1, 2026. The only railway tunnel on the Plovdiv–Burgas line has been successfully excavated. This was announced during a visit by Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Lyuben Nanov, who inspected on site the progress of the modernisation works along the Orizovo – Mikhaylovo railway section. The site is part of the large-scale project for the rehabilitation of the Plovdiv–Burgas railway line. The “Chirpan” Tunnel, which is 744 metres long, is one of the most technically complex structures along the entire route.

The quota of bilateral, transit and third-country road freight transport permits between Bulgaria and Kazakhstan will be doubled in 2026. The agreement was reached by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Dimitar Nedyalkov, and the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Maksat Kaliakparov, during the Joint Bulgarian – Kazakh Commission on Road Transport. The meeting took place on 29–30 October 2025 in Astana, Kazakhstan.
