Bulgaria received the trust of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to host a cybersecurity forum for the fifth time because of its active role in the organisation's activities. This was the common opinion expressed at a meeting today between the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Dimitar Nedyalkov and the Deputy Secretary General of the Union Tomas Lamanauskas. The representative of the organisation is in Sofia to participate in a regional forum of the European members of the ITU.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications is accepting proposals until 31 August 2024 for stamp themes to be issued in 2025. The assessment, before inclusion in the thematic plan, will be carried out according to the new criteria approved at the beginning of 2024.
Mobile operators are taking urgent steps to improve the state of communications in the village of Voden and several neighbouring villages. The aim is to provide better mobile network coverage for the population by deploying additional equipment in the area. These measures were discussed today during a meeting convened on the initiative of Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and Transport and Communications Minister Georgi Gvozdeykov.
The exchange of BGN into EUR will be carried out in 2230 stations of ‘Bulgarian Posts’ in settlements where there are no banks. The Government has entrusted ‘Bulgarian Posts’ EAD to carry out a service of general economic interest — exchange of banknotes and coins from BGN into EUR for a period of 6 months from the date of our accession to the Eurozone.
In this context, the company is currently developing a training plan for about 2,500 employees who will undergo special training. Procurement of counters, CCTV cameras and other equipment is also being prepared.
Two projects to improve young people's digital skills and prepare them for a career in technology will be funded under the Digital Europe programme. The European Commission's assessments have been sent to the Ministry of Transport and Communications as the national coordinator of the programme. The grant agreements are to be signed.
Bulgaria supports the creation of clear rules for the rapid deployment of gigabit networks, to reduce construction costs and administrative burdens. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Grigori Grigorov during a meeting of the EU Council, format ‘Telecommunications’. He said this will contribute to the implementation of high-speed connectivity projects that are enshrined in the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan.
By the end of 2025, 80% of the country's population will have access to 5G connectivity
Public organisations can apply to the Connecting Europe Facility call for 5G projects. The total budget is €51 million for all EU countries and the deadline for submission of project proposals is 20 February 2024.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications, as the national coordinator for the Connecting Europe Facility for the digital sector, is conducting an extensive information campaign among universities, municipalities, public service providers and operators to help them prepare their projects.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Gabriel, Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov and US Ambassador to Bulgaria Kenneth Merten validated a postal and philatelic edition dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"One stamp can carry a stronger message than 120 words," Minister Gvozdeykov said before the stamp was placed on the edition. This is the third stamp in the philatelic encyclopaedia of diplomatic relations between the countries.

We are ready to work with Google to create data centers in Bulgaria, said the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Hristo Alexiev during a meeting with Google's General Manager for Southeast Europe Peggy Antonaku. The talks were held within the framework of the 8th edition of the Delphi Economic Forum, which is taking place in Greece from 26 to 29 April 2023. The one hundred and seventy-fifth anniversary of Hristo Botev’s birth is an occasion to reconsider once again his heroic cause, exciting poetry and emblematic journalism. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Krasimir Papukchiyski during the validation of a postage stamp dedicated to the national hero. The postage stamp was validated by the Vice-President of the National Assembly Nikola Minchev, the Deputy Minister of Culture Plamen Slavov, the President of “Hristo Botyov” Foundation Boyan Botyiov and the Director of "Bulgarian Posts" Filip Aleksiev.
For the first time, the portraits of the 20 Bulgarians awarded the highest title by the State of Israel for saving the Bulgarian Jews will be depicted on a postage stamp. The theme of the edition is "Bulgarian righteous people of the world".

The Ministry of Transport and Communications announces competitions for the selection of members of the Management Authorities in 9 Public Enterprises. Competitions are announced for enterprises in which, at the moment, members of the management bodies have been appointed without a competition procedure.
Bulgaria will be involved in shaping the policy and strategies of one of the UN’s most prestigious agencies - the International Telecommunication Union, which has 193 Member States. Today, at the elections during the Plenipotentiary Conference in Bucharest our country received 137 votes. Bulgaria was elected from the Region C quota, which includes countries from Eastern Europe and Northern Asia.
Small and medium-sized companies in the field of telecommunications and licensed Internet service providers can use an investment loan from the Bulgarian Development Bank. The initiative to create the financial instrument belongs to the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
A guarantee has been provided by the Pan-European Guarantee Fund, under a program of the European Investment Fund, for direct financing of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
Investment loans range are from BGN 100,000 to BGN 1,000,000.
Under the auspices of the Minister of Transport and Communications Nikolay Sabev is the celebration in Ruse of the 15th Anniversary of the accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the European Union. The event will be celebrated on Europe Day, 9 May.
The initiative is a joint one with the Elias Canetti International Society and Ruse Regional Administration.
Minister Sabev will host a panoramic boat trip on the Danube River, which will include representatives of the diplomatic corps in Bulgaria, as well as local authorities from Bulgaria and Romania.
