Over 80 per cent of global data are based on geographic information, while the sector market is estimated at more than 400 billion USD annually, announced the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Rossen Jeliazkov, at the opening of the 20th International GIS Day.

There is no technological solution or industry that do not use geographic data, added the Minister. Their significance increases in state governance, administration, defense and security.

Within two years, Bulgarian legislation needs to be updated with the texts of the new European Code for Electronic Communications and I personally commit myself to this, said Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov. He participated in the Annual Conference of the Bulgarian Association of Cable and Communication Operators and took part in the discussion of the draft Code of Ethics for Consumer Telecommunication Services. Minister Jeliazkov stressed that the European Code is expected to be published in the EU Official Journal at the end of the year.

The thematic plan for issuing postage stamps, postal products and special postage stamps for 2019 was approved by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Rossen Jeliazkov.

The philatelic year will begin with the launch of a post-philatelic edition dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the first self-publishing of the novel Under the Yoke. A postage stamp "Bulgarian folk costumes" is envisaged for a final finish in 2019.

The organization is among the first philatelic companies in Bulgaria and the town of Pleven itself is a metaphorical capital of Bulgarian philately as it hosted major forums such as World Youth Philatelic Exhibition and the Balkan Championship.

The sheet is designed by the Director of Pleven Philatelic Society, Nikolai Mladenov, and depicts the town at the time of the organization’s establishment.

The Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Dimitar Genovski, and the Defense Minister, Krassimir Karakachanov, validated a post stamp on the occasion of 140 years of the establishment of Bulgarian Armed Forces. The philatelic product is the most appropriate way for expressing gratitude for the high morale and patriotism of the thousands of Bulgarians serving in the army, Deputy Minister Genovski said during the ceremony. In his words, our country has always prided in institutions such as the Bulgarian Armed Froces.

A Roadmap on reduction of roaming tariffs between Bulgaria and Macedonia will be prepared at a joint meeting of the ministries of both countries, the regulators and the mobile operators. This was agreed today at a meeting of the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski and the Macedonian Minister of Information Society and Administration Damyan Manchevski. Minister Manchevski proposed Skopje to host the talks in the coming weeks.

Submitting applications for project financing under the European Commission’s initiative for free public wifi WiFi4EU starts tomorrow, 15 May 2018, at 2 pm. Some 222 Bulgarian municipalities, which account for 84% of the total number, are expected to participate in the first competition under the initiative.

Bulgaria’s efforts towards the inclusion of the Western Balkans in EU digital policy are among the country’s contribution to encourage international cooperation. The talks were held within the framework of  the annual session of ITU Council in Geneva.

Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Dimitar Genovski validated two postage stamps in a souvenir sheet "140 Years of the Russian-Turkish Liberation War". This is the fourth joint post-philatelic product between Bulgaria and Russia, the Deputy Minister said during the ceremony. According to him, the theme of the Russian-Turkish war is one of the most popular in the Bulgarian philately . It began in the early 20th century.

 

Bulgaria takes over the Presidency of the Council of the EU in a period with very intensive digital agenda. This was stated by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Ivaylo Moskovski during the hearing at the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) - European Parliament.    

Bulgaria will propose a 5th Generation High-Speed ​​Internet Balkan corridor, which may be parallel to the current road links that are under construction between the countries in the region, announced the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski at a meeting today in Sofia with Roberto Viola, Director-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology of the European Commission.
