The Executive Agency “Road Transport Administration” has begun roadside inspections using new specialised devices (antennas) for the remote detection of tachograph violations. At present, the Agency has seven antennas that enable the identification of potential violations from a distance without stopping every truck or bus. Once a signal is received from the antenna, inspectors carry out a full inspection of the respective vehicle.
The airline GullivAir will operate a special flight today to Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai. The aircraft will depart from Sofia at 13:30 and is expected to land in Dubai at 19:00. From there, 326 passengers who have expressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria their wish to return to Bulgaria will be transported to Sofia.
The aircraft is scheduled to depart from Dubai at 21:00. The landing at Vasil Levski Sofia Airport is expected at around 03:30 on 7 March 2026.
With the flights organized by the state yesterday, 411 people were brought back to Bulgaria
A Bulgaria Air aircraft took off this morning from Salalah International Airport in Oman with 110 passengers on board. Of these, 74 are from the airline’s charter and the rest are listed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The plane is expected to land today at about 17:30 at Vasil Levski Airport – Sofia.

Specialized flights of the airlines GullivAir and Bulgaria Air, as well as the State Aviation Operator, have been organized to return Bulgarian citizens from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman today and tomorrow.
The airline GullivAir has obtained the necessary permits to operate a flight to Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai. The aircraft, which has 326 seats, today will carry Bulgarian citizens who have expressed a preliminary desire to return to Sofia. The lists are being prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications took timely action to provide air transport for the evacuation of Bulgarian citizens from the Middle East. As early as February 28, 2026, talks were held with the management of all Bulgarian airlines that have aircraft or operate in the region.
We continue working on the priority international transport projects along the north-south corridor. The Minister of Transport and Communications, Korman Ismailov, said during a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Republic of Bulgaria, H. E. Brândușa Predescu. The main focus of the conversation was the progress of strategic infrastructure initiatives and the strengthening of regional connectivity between the two countries.

Interim Minister of Transport and Communications Korman Ismailov has officially assumed office, taking over management of the Ministry from Grozdan Karadjov. “I will work to strengthen trust in the institution and streamline operations at all levels,” Minister Ismailov said as he took office.
“Ensuring fair and transparent elections is a top priority for the government and will be our focus in the coming months,” he added.
Bulgaria now possesses 18 hospital helicopter landing sites, forming a well-distributed national network for emergency medical assistance by air. This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Grozdan Karadzhov, at the opening of the new hospital helipad at the "Sv. Ivan Rilski" Multi-Profile Hospital for Active Treatment in Gabrovo.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Grozdan Karadzhov, held a telephone conversation with the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport of the Hellenic Republic, Christos Dimas, in connection with the continuing blockades by Greek farmers at border checkpoints and main road arteries between Bulgaria and Greece.

Bulgaria has proposed that the strategic railway section Ruse–Gorna Oryahovitsa be included in the annex of the Connecting Europe Facility for the period 2028-2034. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Grozdan Karadzhov, has sent a report to the Prosecutor General regarding circulated video materials showing suspicious actions by employees of the Executive Agency "Automobile Administration" – Kyustendil, during a roadside check.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications insists that the concessionaire of Vasil Levski Airport - Sofia SOF Connect should start paying the full amount of the due concession fee from January 1, 2026. For 2025, the amount is nearly EUR 40 million excluding VAT. The concessionaire of Burgas Airport will invest an additional BGN 100 million in the rehabilitation of the airport’s runway. The large-scale project was launched today on the symbolic anniversary of the signing of the concession agreement between the Ministry of Transport and Communications and Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD.
The quota of bilateral, transit and third-country road freight transport permits between Bulgaria and Kazakhstan will be doubled in 2026. The agreement was reached by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Dimitar Nedyalkov, and the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Maksat Kaliakparov, during the Joint Bulgarian – Kazakh Commission on Road Transport. The meeting took place on 29–30 October 2025 in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The railway depots in Sofia, Plovdiv, and Gorna Oryahovitsa will be the main bases for the daily maintenance and storage of the new 60 multiple unit trains from "Skoda" and "Alstom", which are expected to arrive in Bulgaria next year. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadzhov during a visit to the BDZ–Passenger Services depots in Ruse, Gorna Oryahovitsa, and Mezdra.
