The transport underpass beneath Plovdiv Central Station resolves a 50-year-old problem for the city

The only railway tunnel on the Plovdiv–Burgas line has been successfully excavated. This was announced during a visit by Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Lyuben Nanov, who inspected on site the progress of the modernisation works along the Orizovo – Mikhaylovo railway section. The site is part of the large-scale project for the rehabilitation of the Plovdiv–Burgas railway line. The “Chirpan” Tunnel, which is 744 metres long, is one of the most technically complex structures along the entire route.

In connection with the severe road incident from last night, in which three people died, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadzhov ordered a full inspection of the training and exam of the young driver who caused the crash.
