The second procedure for the construction of electric vehicle charging stations, worth BGN 19.5 million, will be announced in January 2026. Under the first procedure, worth BGN 10 million, 11 project proposals were submitted and are currently under evaluation. With this total investment package of nearly BGN 30 million, the foundations of a national network of fast-charging stations will be established.

The concessionaire of Burgas Airport will invest an additional BGN 100 million in the rehabilitation of the airport’s runway. The large-scale project was launched today on the symbolic anniversary of the signing of the concession agreement between the Ministry of Transport and Communications and Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport of the Republic of North Macedonia Aleksandar Nikoloski today signed an Agreement on the Construction of the Railway Tunnel under Deve Bair, which will provide the physical connection between the two countries along the Sofia–Skopje axis.

The event took place in the presence of the ambassadors of EU and NATO member states, who travelled to Gyueshevo by the “Corona Express” train together with the Bulgarian government delegation.

The construction of additional bridges over the Danube is not merely a bilateral issue between Bulgaria and Romania – it is a strategic priority for the prosperity of the entire European Union and for our collective security within NATO. This was emphasised by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov during a meeting with Margarita Marques, Coordinator of the Rhine – Danube Transport Corridor, and Mario Mauro, Coordinator of the Baltic Sea – Black Sea – Aegean Sea Transport Corridor.

The only railway tunnel on the Plovdiv–Burgas line has been successfully excavated. This was announced during a visit by Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Lyuben Nanov, who inspected on site the progress of the modernisation works along the Orizovo – Mikhaylovo railway section. The site is part of the large-scale project for the rehabilitation of the Plovdiv–Burgas railway line. The “Chirpan” Tunnel, which is 744 metres long, is one of the most technically complex structures along the entire route.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Grozdan Karadjov, presented the awards to the three winners of the national competition “Bulgaria – Land of Wonders.” The ceremony took place yesterday at the Ivan Vazov National Theatre and brought together representatives of state institutions, local authorities, the cultural community, and the media.

The quota of bilateral, transit and third-country road freight transport permits between Bulgaria and Kazakhstan will be doubled in 2026. The agreement was reached by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Dimitar Nedyalkov, and the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Maksat Kaliakparov, during the Joint Bulgarian – Kazakh Commission on Road Transport. The meeting took place on 29–30 October 2025 in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The political goal of the Government is for Bulgaria to achieve full membership in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) by the end of 2026.

This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Grozdan Karadjov, during the forum “Partnership for Development: The State and Business in Bulgaria’s Accession Process to the OECD,” organised by the British – Bulgarian Business Association. The event brought together representatives of more than 70 companies, institutions, and international organisations.

“The life and health of people cannot depend on chance. The Government today approved the Draft Act on the General Safety Requirements for the Provision of Attraction Services.

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Lyuben Nanov, at a meeting organised by the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU, dedicated to regional connectivity, transport, and communications. The forum was attended by representatives of European institutions, diplomatic missions, and the business community.

An employee of the Regional Department "Automobile Administration" – Plovdiv caused a road incident with an official vehicle yesterday (Friday) upon arrival at a training center to conduct a practical exam. While reversing, the employee struck one of two pedestrians who were walking together. 

A team from the "Traffic Police" sector – Plovdiv arrived at the scene of the incident. The driver's alcohol test was negative. The field test for narcotic substances returned a positive result, and a blood sample was taken for laboratory analysis.

The Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Lyuben Nanov, together with the Deputy Minister of Energy Georgi Samandov, the Vice-Rector of the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) Assoc.
